Professional training
Training as a pharmaconomist takes three years.

The admission criterion is the upper-secondary school leaving examination. The theoretical component is supplemented by a long trainee practice period at a pharmacy and/or hospital pharmacy. The training corresponds to 180 ECTS points.

The training focuses on knowledge of pharmacology, anatomy and physiology. Subjects such as communication and instructional skills are equally important subjects as they deal with the ability to convey important and sensitive information to customers.

The training alternates between school courses and trainee periods at private pharmacies or hospital pharmacies. The theoretical teaching takes place at Pharmakon in Hilleroed north of Copenhagen.

The alternating form of studying means that students acquire a broad practical and theoretical knowledge of pharmaceuticals. A lot of e-learning is practised while the student is a trainee.
